OrIdow6: what is the timeout on chromebot?
-
nico_32
emscripten page are know to be slow to load
-
OrIdow6
nico_32: Don't know, not an area I'm heavily involved in
-
OrIdow6
An easier thing might be to watch what the browser downloads & put that into a list

Yeah, it's on a different host as well.
-
nico_32
OrIdow6: warcprox is a proxy
-
nico_32
so you've everything that the browser requested
-
nico_32
in a format that wbm can use
-
OrIdow6
nico_32: I know what it is

SketchTheCow: Who runs the file formats wiki?
-
OrIdow6
I can't imagine it would take more time to set it up, than to make a list based on what the browser's dev tools gives you, for a one-time thing
-
OrIdow6
Isn't that thing broken about 1 week each month?
-
JAA
nico_32: I think the timeout is 30 seconds, but not sure.

tech234a: Yes, so does the wiki page (WBM). But that's just the guys providing the server I assume, not who actually runs the wiki.

HP_Archivist
Question - is the torrent option for most items pointless to try? I constantly hear people telling me that torrents fail or corrupt files when trying to download from an item
-
atphoenix
it might be people think the torrent is supposed to be the content itself...and not understanding that a torrent is really metadata to find the content.
-
atphoenix
might also be people with flaky systems that corrupt data in memory or during IO. That probably can lead to weird behavior in memory and IO intensive software, like torrenting.
-
atphoenix
my comments are about torrents in general. Not specific to IA hosted torrents for IA content.
-
HP_Archivist
atphoenix, makes sense. But I've seen this error far too often from people, specifically about trying to grab content from an item on IA via its torrent and the file downloads corrupted or won't download at all
-
atphoenix
it's hard to diagnose an issue without knowing all the specifics of the circumstances, including seeing exactly what the person is seeing on their system
-
atphoenix
especially when there are multiple factors that might be on the person's end, and especially if other people can successfully get the same content
-
atphoenix
now, if you can reproduce their reported problems on your systems, then you can try to narrow down the cause
-

Can somebody run
developer.chrome.com/webstore (should be small) through AB before the end of the month? Contains documentation for Chrome Web Store features that are going to be deactivated then (main channel #chromeweblore)
