JakeI wonder if forum providers are changing pricing or something... so many are shutting down
-
Doranwenfriend of mine's wondering about some LJ pages she ran through SPN back in November, said that the IA's IP address was banned and it couldn't grab those pages - is that a permanent issue or should she send them through another time?
-
JakeIf they banned all of the IA ip addresses, running them through another time won't really help, but if they only banned a couple they could get lucky on which IP is used to crawl it?
-
arkiverDoranwen: LJ?

-
Doranwenyeah, sorry, LJ = LiveJournal
-
arkiverthey banned IAs IPs huh
-
arkiverremembers we, we were one time planning a livejournal project
-
Doranwenfandom would definitely love a livejournal project because of the sheer number of fandom-based communities there, but it might have to be run by individuals in a manner that won't trip IP address issues, similar to the way we had to do the Yahoo Groups project by joining restricted groups on various IDs outside of the warrior stuff
-
DoranwenI know if you find a way to run a script or something that will crawl and retrieve a community or LJ, we've got tons of names to grab
-
Doranwenbut last someone looked at it, there wasn't an easy way to do that, as far as I can recall

lennier1From Liam Robertson regarding unseen64.net: "Unseen64 has paused its Patreon because the site's owner is now no longer able to continue updating the site and is asking backers whether or not the site should be shut down. Why even contemplate this? The site gets more than enough Patreon money to continue for years to come."

bsmith093why not just try the sledgehammer approach of a headless browser
