looking at wikipedia, seems there are websites for his books, but not for him
-
pabs
the HN post has links to copies of his books
-
Ryz
Ah yeah, dead people; notable ones too :c
-
Ryz
There used to be automated pages on ArchiveTeam wiki on updating the entries with websites but has since been not working ><;
-
OrIdow6
I will start looking at that art site soon
-
OrIdow6
I'm thinking - try to make a size estimate, if it's small just go with it, if it's big try to get a better understanding of the online fight that supposedly imperils it
-
JAA
Wow, the Duolingo forums are even worse than what I saw when I poked it a while ago.
-
JAA
Anyway, something's running now.
-
JAA
Loooots of errors, so not the slightest idea how complete this will be.

Their server loves to throw 500s.

Rough ETA is 33 hours. I'm only grabbing the minimal set of API data.

Ryz
Heya OrIdow6, do you have a source for that? o:

Jake

OrIdow6
-
OrIdow6
Well, others can
-
Ryz
My apologies, I ask because I'm likely to be doing other archiving related things; and one of the ways to reduce friction of archiving is giving sources like that~

Btw Vimeo issued an update, seems like it’s less of an issue now:

^ at this point Google has migrated some of their major remaining classic Sites such as Bug Hunter University and chromium.org to other non-Sites platforms

Doranwen
JAA: the person who gave me the heads-up on that fanfic site said she's got a list of all the troublesome, warning-generating works in the "view full work" version of the URLs, but where should she submit that list of URLs? Is that something Archivebot would be handling or direct to a bulk WBM method of some kind? she doesn't remember what that might be and I've never done it
-
Doranwen
she wants to be sure they are definitely saved without any hiccups, lol
-
OrIdow6
Doranwen: Speaking generally (I'm not J A A and don't know the specifics of this site), such a list can be saved with ArchiveBot, or with #// or a project if it is very large
-
Doranwen
OrIdow6: anyone can answer, I was just chatting with JAA about the site earlier was all - and it shouldn't be that large, so ArchiveBot would work - it was already running through it but there were content warnings that possibly caused some pages to fail, and this person wanted to make sure every page was saved, so she and some others compiled a list of all the ones with content warnings
-
Doranwen
I'm asking her for the paste right now
-
JAA
Doranwen: Yes, we can throw a list of URLs into ArchiveBot.
-
Doranwen
JAA: she gave me a *Google Sheet* link, lol - I asked for a simple paste but I think she went to bed, not sure when she'll wake up and see it… if you don't mind the format, here 'tis:
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/190V…8OcjC17aeE6eOqwJPg/edit?usp=sharing

IDK
Doranwen: I might make a txt version

hacks
hey I was wondering whether stackoverflow is backed up? It's a massive resource that would be painful to lose
-
IDK
hacks: is there anything happening to stacksoverflow?
-
IDK
like shutdown/removal notcie?
-
hacks
hopefully not! I was just thinking about sites that would be terrible to lose
-
IDK
We archive things when we see if there is anything unstable going on, ops would know more about the procedure
-
ThreeHM
Stack exchange have published dumps to IA themselves:
archive.org/details/stackexchange
-
hacks
oh wow, that's awesome. thanks for the info ThreeHM
-
JAA
Note that they regularly overwrite that dump, normally every three months. I'm mirroring them to separate items since last year:
archive.org/details/@justanotherarchivist?query=stack+exchange
-
JAA
Doranwen: Ah, chapter=all is very useful as well. Thanks! And thanks for the sensible file, IDK. :-)
-
JAA
I might actually run those through for all other story IDs as well, just to make sure everything is covered.
-
spirit
hiyo, i am currently (well, over a whole year or something) cleaning up the Fileplanet grab
-
spirit
i'd like to move the table with the initial by-id scraping to a sub page, what would be a good name for that? haven't been on the wiki for ages
-
spirit
-
spirit
nvm
-
JAA
How has it never occurred to me until today that spirit = schbirid? lol Anyway, although I don't think a subpage is needed for this one, I'd just go with a boring one: /Status or /Table or similar.

Hung
Hey, is this where i can get some help with recovering my old imageshack pictures??
-
OrIdow6
binzyboi: Am I correct in thinking that Buzzly.art has only existed since mid-last year?
-
binzyboi
Yes, that is correct.
-
OrIdow6
Yes Hung
-
OrIdow6
Thank you binzyboi
-
binzyboi
No probs, shoot me if you need any more info
-
Hung
Oh my, much appreciate it. So how can i do this? thanks a lot
-
OrIdow6
Hung: Wait, was imageshack an ArchiveTeam project? If it wasn't probably no
-
OrIdow6
Or go to #internetarchive if you are just looking for help navigating the Internet Archive, but not anything ArchiveTeam has specifically done
-
Hung
Like i have no idea cz i havent been using it for years, I just realized ive had some pics there that not on my HD so now im flippin out trying to figure out a way to recover them
-
OrIdow6
Hung: Generally speaking, try web.archive.org
-
Hung
Yeah, just pasted 1 of the link in there and its showed No URL
-
Hung
oh man, im screwed lol
-
JAA
There are multiple URL formats, so it might still be somewhere. Finding it is generally hard though.
-
Hung
yeah both the reg url and the imagizer aint workin
-
OrIdow6
binzyboi: Does
buzzly.art/browse , viewed without an account, list all submissions that are not account-restricted?
-
OrIdow6
Could I get the same set of submissions by listing all accounts and then listing all the submissions on each of those accounts?
