over the past months people have noted problems with the warrior on some projects
-
arkiver
these problems should be fixed

In case you're not aware, LBRY Inc announced yesterday on Twitter that they'll shut down. This was yesterday, so you might be aware by now.
-
JAA
'It is specifically LBRY Inc that must die, the LBRY protocol and blockchain will continue.'

So that means lbry.com might go, as well as their git repos
-
JAA
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I find it clear as mud what'll happen.

JAA: no, i meant displaying the markdown as plain text.
-
JAA
thuban: Hmm, that'd mean overriding the Content-Type header I guess. Not a fan of faking that.
-
JAA
It's served as text/x-markdown currently, although that should probably be text/markdown these days (RFC 7763).
-
thuban
you'd think browsers would just let you configure stuff under text/ to display as text, but afaict no...
-
JAA
It used to be possible in Firefox by editing a mimeTypes.rdf file in the profile dir, but apparently that no longer exists.
-
JAA
Ah, it's in handlers.json these days.
-
thuban
ugh, have to restart. well, i'll see if it works later...

For LBRY,
lbry.tech and
lbry.org should also be grabbed.
-
JAA
Already did :-)
-
pcr
Thanks JAA
-
pcr
Grabbing some of Odysee's stuff might also not be a bad idea, not sure how they will be affected. User content is safe because blockchain, but git repos and such would be nice to have.
-
JAA
What do you have in mind?
-
JAA
I have no strong desire to try and detangle these cryptoscam projects.
-
pcr
-
JAA
Ack. #gitgud is our channel for GitHub stuff. (I already mentioned it there.)
-
pcr
Oh yeah, thanks for reminder

JAA

arkiver
right

The ArchiveBot job for this will almost certainly not finish in time (despite running at a good speed, the site's just too large).
-
arkiver
when it that shutting down again?
-
arkiver
is*
-
JAA
2022-12-31
-
arkiver
alright, and the txt files with URLs need to be formed into gelog URLs
-
JAA
Perhaps we should try getting in touch with them and asking for a direct copy of their data?
-
arkiver
would be good
-
arkiver
a copy in the wayback machine would also be good
-
arkiver
> despite running at good speed
-
arkiver
so the website can handle high speed?
-
JAA
Not really, no. They explicitly mention limited resources on the website.
-
arkiver
right
-
JAA
Probably easily DPoSd into oblivion.
-
arkiver
maybe they can simply stay online until we have a copy
-
arkiver
*and* hand a copy to us
-
JAA
geolog_project (hyphen) 2018 (at sign) yahoo (dot co dot jp)
-
JAA
That would be ideal, yeah.
-
arkiver
JAA: are you also getting a copy of the URLs in those txt files they have transformed to geolog URLs?
-
JAA
At the moment, there's only the job from the homepage running, but I want to launch one for the maho.jp stuff. Not sure what else there is.
-
arkiver
there were a few i think
-
arkiver
we can send an email tomorrow, i'll be off to bed now
-
arkiver
or you send an email and CC me - though i could send to them from an @archive.org which they might like
-
arkiver
since they explicitly mention IA
-
arkiver
(but they did not contact IA afaik)
-
JAA
Yeah, that might be better.
-
JAA
Right, yes, there's also some So-net U-Page+ stuff and a text file for the GeoCities pages, but I think the latter are reachable through the navigation.
