oneokrockhey! i'm new to this and i just wanted to ask, if i wanted to go about archiving an extensive magazine collection, where do i start, is there any copyright issues and where should i go about uploading the scans?
-
jamesponeokrock just scan the magazines in with color using your printer, then upload the files onto the internet archive at archive.org
-
gazorpazorpI think it's possible to send physical books/magazines to the Internet Archive for them to scan archive.org/scanning Not sure about copyright issues, though
-
JAA(They already left a few minutes after the question.)
-
TheTechRobo<TheTechRobo> With the pomf.se redirects, there are bugs
-
TheTechRobo<TheTechRobo> For example, for whatever reason, the WBM archives ITSELF if it's an outlink
-
TheTechRobo<TheTechRobo> Meaning, a.pomf.se/ktkjmt.png > web.archive.org/web/2/http://a.pomf.se/ktkjmt.png > web.archive.org/web/blahblah/http:/…lahblah/http://a.pomf.se/ktkjmt.png > so on...

JAAHmm yes, interesting: web.archive.org/web/20201108174234/http://a.pomf.se/ktkjmt.png
-
JAAThat's from #//
-
JAASame behaviour on an AB capture: web.archive.org/web/20200802071230/http://a.pomf.se/ktkjmt.png
-
JAASo likely a WBM bug, not something with our archives.
-
JAAOh, well, no, that's the correct behaviour:
-
JAA$ curl -sv a.pomf.se/ktkjmt.png |& grep -i '^< location: '
-
JAA< Location: web.archive.org/web/http://a.pomf.se//ktkjmt.png
-
JAAI.e. it's the origin server that does this.
-
nicolas17maybe WBM should avoid going recursive on that
-
nicolas17but yes, the origin server is pointing at WBM, so...
-
JAAWell yes, I agree with that. And I guess we shouldn't grab those URLs on either AB or #//.
-
JAAAB does have an ignore for all of archive.org, but that only applies to direct targets, not redirects, so it still went down a rabbit hole there.
