RyzAw, such is the life of Adobe Flash web video game portals; I came across zombiegames.net from my much huge backlog spreadsheet; and what makes it stuck out is there's a blog post posted earlier on 2020 April on the website's life: zombiegames.net/news/Thank-you-Zombiegames.html
-
RyzThe real stuck out thing is this Google Analytics image, just whoa: zombiegames.net/images/Stats1.png
-
ArcorannIncidentally, how many non-English sites do you have on there?
-
Arcorann(I ask because I had the site game-tm.com sitting in a to-do list for a while but never got round to doing anything with it)
-
Doranwenin cleaning out my old file folders (physical ones, not digital), I found scrap papers I'd written down URLs on about two decades ago - and I'm seeing which links the WBM happened to save out of curiosity - so far it's a high percentage!
-
RyzArcorann, I'm not so certain, maybe more than 30-50% is non-English? At least on the smaller more complicated websites to do
-
RyzThe other one is another world entirely s:
-
ArcorannOther what?
-
RyzOh, I had JAA scrape a ton of links that is related to BlueMaxima's Flashpoint by scraping links from Bing with the search queries I sent to 'em Arcorann
-
ArcorannFair enough
-
RyzThere's 340k amount of links I have even with a bit of filtering and tackling
-
ArcorannNot bad
-
RyzHeh, yeah; and even after archiving a lot of websites at ArchiveBot, there's still a ton more to go through ><;
-
RyzIt's nearly endless
-
Arcorann
-
ArcorannThe sites targeted include some torrent sites and file hosting sites as well
-
thubaniirc the flashpoint project involves manual curation. is there an intermediate project for simply saving flash files (and cleaning up the presentation later)?
-
JAAthuban: The thing is you don't just need to save the .swf files. Plenty of Flash stuff is interactive and loads more stuff as it runs.
-
nico_32JAA: detonate the swf in a browser with a proxy that is setup to log every url requested?
-
nico_32hum maybe i misremember but i believe someone wrote a proxy that generate warc
-
nico_32for his own archiving need
-
JAARequests might only be made when you click on stuff etc.
-
JAAYes, warcprox
-
nico_32JAA: yes
-
nico_32JAA: and using a decompiler would not help
-
RyzMm, archiving websites that have Adobe Flash stuff would be time consuming s:
-
RyzSince those things are used for navigating through websites...
